Why an SUV Has the Edge Over a Standard Car
What it gains over a low-slung car is ground clearance, 16 to 22 cm versus 13-15 cm on a standard car, and boot space, 500 to 700 litres versus the 450-550 of a saloon. You'll notice it on dirt tracks up towards the Sierra de las Nieves or on the road to Istán and Ojén, and also when loading golf bags or several large suitcases without a fight to fit them in. That said, the SUV still tops out at 5 seats, same as a standard car. If your group is bigger, our 7 and 9-seater category gives you the extra space this one doesn't have.

Is There a Minimum Age to Hire an SUV in Marbella?
Yes, we hire to drivers from 25 years old, having held a driving licence for at least 2 years, the same condition as the rest of the fleet.
Does the SUV Have Four-Wheel Drive?
Not necessarily, most of the SUV fleet is front-wheel drive like a standard car, the advantage is in the height and boot space. If you need four-wheel drive, let us know when you book.
What's the Difference Between the Mercedes GLA and the GLB?
The GLB has more interior space than the GLA, which is why it costs more, €105 a day versus €65 for the GLA. If you just need more luggage room or legroom in the back, the GLB is worth the extra.
Does the SUV Cope Well on Dirt Tracks Up into the Mountains?
Yes, that's exactly what it's built for. It really shows on dirt tracks up towards the Sierra de las Nieves or on the road to Istán and Ojén, where the extra height makes all the difference compared with a low-slung standard car.
Is an SUV Worth It if I'm Only Driving Along the Coast?
Not necessarily. An SUV uses between 15% and 25% more fuel than a standard car, so if you're only sticking to Marbella, San Pedro and Puerto Banús, a mid-range car will do the job just as well and work out cheaper. The difference shows once the trip heads inland.
